Abstract Teaching contents and teaching mode with characteristics have been constructed for the course of chemistry instruction design according to principles of chemistry teaching. Learning theory was taught with lead-in teaching method. Chemical knowledge was classified by learning theory and teaching examples were designed according to cognitive principles. Training of teaching design and simulated teaching were carried out in order to deepen their knowledge and understanding of chemistry teaching theories. The result showed that students' instruction design capacity and teaching capacity had been developed perfectly in 5 sessions postgraduate and 3 sessions undergraduate students.
