Abstract Combining research results with experiment teaching, this article devised one novel inquiry physical chemistry experiment:preparation and performances of graphene membrane/nickel hydroxide complex materials. Students were guided to independently review literatures, design experiment scheme and characterize electrode materials for constructing next generation flexible energy storage elements. This experiment could be helpful to strengthen students' theoretical knowledge, expand their knowledge, cultivate their scientific attitude and experimental skills, improve their ability to analyze and solve problems. In general, this experiment met the demands of inquiry physical chemistry experiment.
