Abstract Senior high school chemistry textbooks published by Shandong Science and Technology Press had been used in experimental areas of 4 provinces in China. This paper summarized and analyzed the effects and evaluation of using this version of textbooks by high school chemistry teachers and researchers, including teaching material arrangement system, evaluation of the difficulty of teaching materials, experiment content, "column" and illustration design, as well as the presentation of exercises and other topics. The results showed that this version of textbooks were welcomed by most of the teachers and researchers,but also still existed some problems such as wide range of knowledge, the security of experiment design was also needed to strengthen, illustrations were unattractive and exercises were too difficult, etc.
