Abstract Yu He-Qin, born out of traditional scholar at the End of the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, was a new-typed scholar committed to the practice of sinification of science. This paper discussed the background of Yu He-Qin's compiling chemistry textbooks, analyzed the characteristics of his compiling chemistry textbooks now kept in the world, and pointed out that his chemistry textbooks promoted the localization of modern chemistry.
