Abstract Used magenta solution, cupric sulfate solution and bubble water, this paper verified that hydrogen was generated when concentrated sulfuric acid and zinc particles were heated together. It was suggested that hydrogen generation was related to the self-ionization of concentrated sulfuric acid, which was confirmed by several metals.
