Abstract Using SOLO classification theory, this paper analyzed the students' response to the chart short-answer questions about the complex chemical reaction, judged the level of the students' learning of chemistry, and made the SOLO learning quality analysis table. This study showed that students' learning level was dominated by multi-point structure, the main reason was that the students were unable to understand the chemical meaning of the charts about complex chemical reaction. At last, this paper proposed cultivating students' comprehension ability from 4 aspects.
