Abstract In this paper, the synthesis and characterization of salicylaldehyde Schiff-base compounds with aggregation-induced emission(AIE) character were introduced. Students will grasp the methods for the synthesis of Schiff-base compounds, the principle of fluorescence and the difference between AIE and aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ).Also, students will learn about the structure and design strategy of AIE molecules through class and network learning.
