Abstract Solar energy is a very important renewable energy source. Because of their advantages such as lightweight, good flexibility, low cost, and the capability to fabricate flexible large-area devices to convert sunlight to electricity, organic solar cells (OSCs) have been expected as one of the most promising technologies to utilize solar energy. In this paper, the development, performance parameters, working mechanism, and applications are briefly introduced.
