Abstract Taking the teaching literatures of "galvanic battery" (lesson 1) for recent 30 years as the object of study, this paper analyzed the teaching evolution process of "galvanic battery" (lesson 1). The results shown that with the reform of chemistry curriculum, the core teaching content, basic knowledge model and teaching experiment of "primary battery" shown little change while the teaching idea, object, method, the way of content organization and experimental style had been transcending the past on the basis of reasonable inheritance, showing the characteristics of gradual change. However, there were still some problems need to be solved in the background of the era of key competence, such as three-dimensional target splitting design, error concepts easily derived from copper-zinc galvanic cell model and shallow exploration activities of students and so on.
