Training Strategy for Innovative Talents Majored in Chemistry in University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)

Abstract The characteristics of education mission, majors and curricula in chemistry department, pattern of laboratory teaching, as well as student research activities in the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) were summarized. The outcome-guided and student-centered conception is the most distinctive educational spirit of the university, which governs the curriculum setting and the arrangement of research activities. Experimental courses and student research progroms are valued highly so as to help students to gain the ability to solve real problem in the future. Safety in lab is treated seriously all around the campus. All these ideas and abundant practical experiences accumulated in the kind of top universities will enlighten our work of innovative student training.
