Abstract High school chemistry teaching should pay attention to the cultivation and promotion of students' experimental ability, and the opening of school-based chemistry experiment elective course is an effective complement and expansion to the classroom experiment teaching. Based on the present situation of junior high school students' participation in hands-on experiments, this paper expounded the curriculum objectives, forms and contents of elective experiment courses, and analyzed the functions and values of selected experiments with specific cases. By observing students' classroom performance and participation, and combined with after-class interviews, this paper deeply reflected on the students' development from elective courses.
