Abstract Material chemistry is an emerging interdisciplinary subject, and its teaching content has not been unanimously recognized. Focusing on the goal of cultivating talents in material chemistry specialty, some explorations have been made on the teaching reform of the material chemistry course, such as selecting appropriate textbook and teaching contents, promoting the modernization and diversity of teaching methods, cultivating students' practical ability, reforming and innovating assessment methods, and so on.
