Abstract An English teaching course, General Chemistry Laboratory, is presented to the students in the School of the Gifted Youth, University of Science and Technology of China. The teaching content of the course is comprehensive and novel, taking full advantage of students' talent for calculation and inference. The flipped classroom is adopted so as to get students more engaged in science and develop the spirit of discovery. Intense practices in English language.as well as communication with foreign experts or TA are implemented in the course. Both professional English and the creativity of the students are enhanced through the course.
