Abstract In this paper, the commemorative stamps of international year of chemistry which issued by various countries in the world were collected and sorted out. The chemical information in this stamps was interpreted, and its social value on developing and expanding the scientific spirit, popularizing the chemistry knowledge, setting up the chemistry concept, and assisting chemistry teaching were discussed.
