Abstract This paper starts from phosphoenolpyruvic acid and erythrose 4-phosphate for a detailed introduction on the synthesis of chorismate, the common substrate shared by three aromatic amino acids, followed by the analysis on the uniqueness of the phenylalanine biosynthesis as an example from different subject’s perspective. Through comparing and contrasting the discrepancies and similarities of different metabolic pathways from different angles, this manuscript is aimed to work as a compass helping students to establish the methodology on learning interdisciplinary knowledge.
