Abstract On the basis of rapid development of arsenic chemistry, three typical allotropes of arsenic element of gray arsenic, black arsenic and yellow arsenic have been systematically summarized in the aspects of preparation, structure, chemical property and application. Furthermore, some recently discovered allotropes of arsenic element have been briefly introduced. This article shows a chemistry overview of arsenic element that will provide abundant materials for both teaching and research.
