Abstract This paper introduces the connotation and practice of the novel five-dimensional teaching strategy of college organic chemistry, which is “strengthening concept, emphasizing thinking, revitalizing classroom, educating together and studying happily”. The strategy focuses on the practice of the teaching concept “organic chemistry is science and art” by classroom teaching supplemented by Tencent conference and MOOC. Distinguishing the diversity of electrophilic and nucleophilic reagents through multicycle of “questioning and probing” teaching mode to cultivate students’ comprehensive application of a variety of scientific thinking. Strengthening multiple teaching links such as “literature preview” “practice explanation” “comprehensive homework” and “teacher-student interaction” to deepen students’ understanding and application of knowledge, improve students’ participation in the classroom, and focus on cultivating students’ scientific thinking and humanistic quality, autonomous learning and teamwork spirit.
