Abstract This paper attempts to use the arrow-pushing method commonly employed in organic reaction mechanism illustration to explain reaction mechanisms of hydrogen peroxide including acid-base reactions with water and ammonia, reduction by sulfurous acid, sulfites, nitrous acid, hydrobromic acid and ethanol, oxidation by chlorine, Ce(IV) reagents or potassium permanganate under acidic conditions, as well as decomposition reactions catalyzed by light, base, anions and metal cations/complexes.
