Reform and Practice of Separation Engineering Course Under Background of New Engineering

Abstract Based on the concept of new engineering, our university addresses the painful problems that exist in the traditional separation engineering courses, such as “the comprehensive quality and ability of the teaching staff are not highly compatible with the requirements of the construction of new engineering”, “the teaching mode emphasizes knowledge but not the cultivation of students’ ability and value”, “the overall design of the course is not cutting-edge and contemporary”. The course reform and practice are carried out by building a high-level faculty, integrating the thinking and politics of the course, writing internationally certified teaching materials, innovating teaching methods, carrying out all-English teaching, and improving diversified evaluation mechanisms. This has broadened students’ international perspective, strengthened their higher-order thinking, diversified and comprehensive engineering ability, and engineering literacy.
