Abstract According to the result of questionnaire survey, this paper analyses the material class specialized elective course existing problems and causes. And then we propose the direction of teaching reform, including the clear purpose of the students’ course selection, dynamic adjustment of teaching contents, multiple teaching mode and multi-angle assessment method. Taking the course of flexible materials and devices as an example, this paper puts forward specific suggestions and measures for improvement in three aspects of teaching content, teaching form and assessment method. Furthermore, we summarize feasible and effective countermeasures for elective courses of material majors on this basis.
