Abstract The traditional method of “gas-liquid equilibrium phase diagram experiment oftwo-liquid system” in physical chemistry experiment uses Abbe refractometer to determine the sample composition, which has some prominent problems such as long experiment time, large amount of organic reagents and large experimental error, leading to poor experimental results. In this study, we try to introduce the gas chromatograph in the instrument analysis experiment, and improve the experiment scheme. Because the gas chromatograph has the characteristics of less sample amount, high sensitivity and high resolution efficiency, it can shorten the experiment time, reduce the amount of reagents, and reduce the error of the experiment to achieve good experimental results. Practice has proved that gas chromatography not only has the advantages of simple operation and good data results, but also can improve students’ comprehensive experimental ability and cultivate students’ innovation and professional quality. Through the comparison of the two methods, it is found that gas chromatography is a new method that conforms to the improvement and development direction of the experiment, and is suitable for popularization and use in other institutions of higher learning.
