Abstract The quality of laboratory safety education content writing directly affects the effectiveness of science laboratory safety education. The American science textbook Science Explorer: Scientific Inquiry integrates experimental safety education with scientific inquiry, highlights the important values of experimental safety education, such as experimental operation norms (scientific inquiry norms), emergency response ability and students’ safety awareness, etc. The logical and hierarchical structure of its content structure, the contextualization and interactivity of its formal design, the process and reflection of teaching and learning evaluation, are the characteristics of textbook writing that provide useful reference and inspiration for the content writing of experimental safety education in our science textbooks.
