Abstract Based on the number and valence states of the cations,as well as the number of crystallization water molecules, vitriols are classified.Using typical examples, the structures of common mono-cation and di-cation vitriols are introduced from the perspectives of coordination unit configuration, spatial stacking structure, crystal water form, hydrogen bonding, isomorphism and polymorphism. This is beneficial for enriching chemistry learning resources, popularizing knowledge of vitriol structures, and enabling readers to appreciate the beauty of material structures.
