Abstract In the current undergraduate chemistry curriculum, the content on non-covalent interactions is mostly limited to van der Waals forces and hydrogen bonds. However, over the past two decades, other non-covalent interactions based on elements such as halogens, chalcogens, pnictogens, borons, and carbons have been extensively studied and have demonstrated significant application value in fields such as drug design, biochemistry, polymer chemistry, and organic catalysis. Therefore,it is particularly important to update the undergraduate teaching system by incorporating these topics to enhance the curriculum content and address students’ knowledge gaps.
