Abstract Solid phase extraction is a rapidly developing new technology used for sample preparation and a top-priority method in liquid sample preparation. This paper introduces the solid phase extraction technology, and put forward an idea of enrichment of the trace metal ions in environmental water samples with stationary phase complexing method based on the theory of coordination chemistry.
