Abstract Clusteris one of the hot research fieldsin chemistry nowadays. In this paper, the concept of cluster is introduced. Moreover, the structures and properties of Al13 and Al14 as well as the stability rules of aluminium iodide clusters are introduced. Finally, the significance of aluminium clusters research is given.
