Abstract Photosynthesis is not only a large scale chemical process, but also one of the most important chemical reactions on the earth. The research course of photosynthesis is reviewed by introducing seven times of Nobel Prizes in Chemistry awarded to photosynthesis researchers. Meanwhile, the latest research results about the structure of chlorophyll and the chemical mechanism of photosynthesis are given.
