Abstract This paper introduces the principles of marine mussels adhering solid surfaces, covering the essential contribution of DOPA to strong adhesion, the interaction modes of mucoproteins adhere to both inorganic and organic surfaces, and solidification principle of byssal, in order to serve senior high school as chemistry extending material.
