Abstract Research-teaching style and corresponding exam methods were explored in organic chemistry experiment course in this study. In order to foster the students' primary research capacity, we introduce scientific frontier and researching approach to the students, guide them to do experiments and help them to finish research training, which is a kind of preparation for future undergraduate innovative training project (UITP). Furthermore, this could improve the teachers' guidance and students' research interest when doing a UITP.
