Abstract Keeping up with the subject development, novel analytical methods and research results developed in recent years are incorporated into classic instrumental analysis courses as supplementary teaching materials. Novel analytical methods such as colorimetric assay based on gold nanoparticle, fluorescent analysis based on quantum dot, sample pre-treatment methods based on molecularly imprinted polymer are introduced in teaching, beneficial to expanding the students' knowledge, improving the students' interest, increasing students' confidence and improving the teaching effectiveness.
