Abstract Through questionnaires and interviews, this paper investigated the conceptions and behaviors of senior high school chemistry teachers to chemical experiment teaching, and the status of teaching resources in Yangpu district of Shanghai. The results indicated that the teachers well recognized the role of experiment in chemistry teaching, but they didn't strengthen corresponding teaching behaviors in teaching practice; the experimental resources of the schools were unbalanced with some schools lack of experimental resources. This study analyzed the causes of these phenomena, and gave some suggestions on strengthening experiment teaching and improving relevant ability of teachers.
