Abstract In this paper, the simple and unified formula of number average degree of polymerization (Xn) and the extent of systemic reaction(ps) Xn=1/(1-ps) as well as the unified formula of the extent of systemic reaction and the extent of group reaction(pa)ps=2rpa/(1+r)were derived from the definition of degree of polymerization and the extent of systemic reaction,which deepened the understanding of the extent of reaction and the relationship of number average degree of polymerization and the extent of reaction.
