Abstract Applied electrochemistry is a course with intensive theories and wide applications. This paper discussed the application of numerical simulation method in applied electrochemistry teaching based on the example of copper electroplating. By computer numerical simulation, electrochemical process was coupled with gravity field and flow field commonly used in electrochemical engineering, and the solution of domain was computed by means of finite element method. Multi-fields coupling software could combine abstract equations with multi-media such as intuitive computer images and cartoons to help students to understand the electrochemical theory. Using computer experimental method to organize teaching was an effective way to improve classroom efficiency, stimulate learning interests of students, and develop their innovative spirits and practical abilities.
