Abstract This paper discussed how to set contexts to improve teaching of physical chemistry for undergraduate students majoring in non chemistry from two aspects with detailed examples. Firstly, in order to stimulate students' interests in each chapter of physical chemistry, this paper presented how to set contexts according to the characteristics of majors to make students feel the importance of each chapter to the follow-up study. Secondly, this paper discussed how to help students study detailed knowledge in physical chemistry by the anchored instruction method with contexts setting.
