Inquiry Experiment of Polymer Chemistry: Controllable Synthesis of α, ω-Carboxyl Terminated Polydimethylsiloxane

Abstract This paper proposed a set of integral, explorative and comprehensive experiments of polymer chemistry through combining the polymer chemistry experiments, scientific research activities of undergraduates, achievements in scientific research and characterization techniques of functional polymers tightly, and described these innovations taking the experiment of controllable synthesis of α, ω-carboxyl terminated polydimethylsiloxane as an example. During the implementation of the explorative experiments, the students were guided to carry out literature search, synthesis routine design and evaluation, polymer synthesis and characterization, and laboratory report. Results showed that the students' abilities in literature consulting, documents analyzing and innovative thinking could be markedly promoted.
