Abstract The synthesis of novel alkyl substituted pyridium bromide quaternary ammonium salts was taken as an innovative training project for undergraduates,including the literature review, synthetic route design,reaction conditions optimization and structure characterization.The results showed that innovative training in scientific research could deeply strengthen interpenetration and mutual promotion of students' theoretical knowledge and scientific practical skills. In addition,the practical ability and innovation ability should be improved on the basis of building a systematic knowledge system.
