Abstract Misled by the definition of cloud point of nonionic surfactants, many textbooks and experimental handouts define the Krafft point of ionic surfactants as the temperature when the 1.0wt% aqueous solution of ionic surfactants turn from turbid into transparent with temperature increasing. Herein, the irrational point was pointed out through the analysis of solubility features of the typical anionic surfactants, sodium lauryl sulfate. Finally, a simple and fast strategy was proposed to measure the Krafft point of ionic surfactants accurately.
