Abstract In order to measure the degree of students' meta-cognition participation in applying the concept of chemical bond, this paper designed a questionnaire of applying the concept of chemical bond based on meta-cognition theory. The questionnaire included 2 basic concepts of covalent bond and ionic bond, and each of these basic concepts included five ended questions. Two open tasks were added after each of the ended questions to measure the degree of students' participation in meta-cognitive knowledge and meta-cognitive monitoring when applying the concept of chemical bond. Survey data analysis for a high school student who had learned the concept of chemical bond showed that the questionnaire had high internal consistency, good reliability and validity. Therefore, the questionnaire could be used as a tool to measure the degree of students' participation in applying the concept of chemical bond, and had certain application value.
