Teaching Practice of 5E Instructional Model in China and Review of its Research Progress in Foreign Countries

Abstract 5E instructional model was widely used in international science teaching, and it was an important teaching mode of conceptual change and inquiry teaching which used widely in educational research and practice in basic education in our country. 5E instructional model was a kind of learning ring mode based on constructivism, which mainly including 5 parts:engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, evaluation. Each stage had its dedicated teaching strategies. This study systematically reviewed the origin, connotation and characteristics of 5E instructional model, deeply analyzed the existing practice case of 5E instructional mode in our country, described the practice application situation and existing problems of 5E instructional mode, and put forward positive suggestions for improvement of inquiry teaching in our country. By explaining the evolution and research progress of 5E instructional model, this paper hoped to describe the direction and content of the study in the future.
