Abstract  The collection and digestion of PM2.5 samples, and the detection methods, source analysis methods and common risk assessment methods of heavy metals in PM2.5 are briefly introduced, with emphasis on the heavy metal pollution, risk assessment and research deficiencies of PM2.5 samples in major cities in China.
