Abstract The advantages and shortcomings of the former reform in course thesis were analyzed. Based on the objective-based education strategy, a systemic design of course thesis for physical chemistry teaching was made. The practice details for course thesis of physical chemistry in Shandong University and the effectiveness of the reform were introduced. It is of significance for future reform of course thesis.
