Abstract This paper introduced the innovative training program of undergraduate students in Tarim University. A series of modified chitosan anion exchange membrane were prepared with chitosan (CS), 2,3-epoxypropyl trimethyl ammonium chloride and glutaraldehyde under microwave conditions, and properties of products were characterized by IR and TG. The implementation of the project allowed undergraduate students to make full use of what they have learned, and cultivate their competency of scientific research, and played a positive role in training innovative talents.
