Abstract Safety education is the most important task in laboratory safety management and all students should have basic safety knowledge about lab operation and chemical properties of reagents before starting experiment, so the teachers arranged a seminar "lab safety and guideline of lab reagents" to all fresh undergraduate students at first semester. For motivating students' interests to learn knowledge about lab safety, the teachers designed the course based on different majors and lab management practical situation with various teaching methods. Timely classroom test was used to strengthen students' impression and make sure that the training has met original goal. As the most important part of the safety management of institutional construction, taking part in safety education/training is the prerequisite for all students. After training, students' safety sense have been notably improved and laid solid foundation for following lab safety management. And this also demonstrated our college's safety management principle:people-oriented and prevention first.
