Abstract In view of the deficiency of traditional 8-hydroxyquinoline preparation experimental device, this paper redesigned a new experimental device for synthesis of 8-hydroxyquinoline based on the existing teaching experiments of organic chemistry in university. Miniature funnel and the conventional grinding mouth instrument manifolds were connected and assembled in laboratory and the problem about the late unreacted ortho nitrophenol treatment and the separation of 8-hydroxyquinoline was solved. The experimental results showed that the improved experimental device was simple, safe, time saving, and the experimental efficiency was also improved obviously.
