Abstract Three different kinds of copper oxide powder were used as raw materials to prepare CuSO4·5H2O, respectively. The CuO content of each raw material was quantitatively analyzed, and its effect on the yield of the product was explored. The experiment is derived from the students' questions, including chemical analysis, elemental analysis and instrumental analysis, and can be set up as a quasi-research basic chemistry experiment. It is favorable for teachers to guide students to integrate their theoretical knowledge and technology, and solve the practical problems in the process of experiments. It also helps teachers to cultivate students' innovative ability and scientific literacy, and to promote the research-based teaching for basic chemistry experiment.
