Abstract A comprehensive chemical experiment named synthesis and characterization of MCM-41 mesoporous silica material was designed. Experimental contents contain the preparation of MCM-41 mesoporous silica material, and its full characterization in structure and morphology including scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, low angle X-ray diffraction and nitrogen adsorption-desorption measurement. This experiment can not only improve undergraduates' basic experimental skills, but also make them to comprehend the fundamentals of related chemical courses. Furthermore, the experiment may also arouse undergraduates' interests to explore the advances in chemistry.
