Abstract Chemical history can be used as an important resource for chemistry teaching design. This paper designed the process of chemists conducting scientific research and solving scientific problems as students' problems for classroom teaching, which needed to go through the following steps:investigation of historical event, analysis of students' level, problem transformation. Taking the law of conservation of mass as an example, the framework and implementation of chemistry teaching design based on "historical replay" was discussed.
