Direct Resolution of Enantiomers of D,L-Alanine by Paper Chromatography with Vancomycin as Impregnating Agent

Abstract In this work, we confirm that direct resolution of enantiomers for D,L-alanine can be achieved on paper using vancomycin as chiral impregnating reagent. The effects of the ratio of mobile phase, concentration of chiral selector had been studied in details. Thus, the technique reported here is flexible, simple, direct and economical, and may become the facile method compared with other chromatographic techniques towards fast routine analysis. It is therefore suitable for experimental teaching and industrial applications.
