Abstract The open lab in local medical universities based on the people-oriented idea was proposed to cultivate the students' comprehensive quality and innovative ability, as well as to satisfy the needs of students at different levels. The open lab was built according to the concept of "people-oriented, innovation as the main line, autonomous learning, multi-evaluation". The significances of open lab in medical universities was explored. Through this, the experiences obtained in teaching process of open lab could provide references for the experiment teaching to a certain extent, as such to enhance the quality of education.
