Abstract There are many factors that affect the results of organic chemistry experiments. In this paper, we showed that the students could get fully understanding and acquire skills, efficient ways of thinking and innovations of experiments of organic synthesis by inquiry of 1-bromo-butane preparation, such as experiment conditions, experiment apparatus and experiment procedures. In this way the students could get fully prepared for their further studies of organic experiments. Moreover, we also discussed efficient ways of teaching of organic experiments and thus laid a foundation to the research of teaching methods of organic chemistry experiment.
